China Releases "Digital China Development Report (2022)” , Cybersecurity Industry Scale Reaching CNY 217 Billion, a YoY Growth of 13.9%
On May 23, 2023, the Cyberspace Administration of China announced the publication of the "Digital China Development Report (2022)" (referred to as the "Report" below), which comprehensively summarizes the significant achievements made in advancing the construction of Digital China in various regions and departments throughout 2022.
As one of the key indicators for evaluating the effectiveness of digital development in China, the "Report" highlights that digital security serves as the fundamental guarantee for the construction of Digital China. In 2022, China's network security policies and regulations were continuously improved, and the construction of standard specifications was systematically promoted. As a result, the capabilities for safeguarding digital security significantly strengthened, and notable progress was made in data security management and personal information protection. Consequently, the cybersecurity industry has entered a new phase of development.
According to the "Report," the scale of the cybersecurity industry in China continues to expand. In 2022, it is estimated to have reached nearly CNY 217 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 13.9%. The number of enterprises engaged in the cybersecurity sector exceeds 3,000. Furthermore, the talent pool in cybersecurity is continuously growing, with over 500 undergraduate and vocational colleges across the country offering majors related to network and information security.
