The latest "2024 First Half China Security Services Market Tracking Report" released by International Data Corporation (IDC) shows that the overall revenue of vendors in the Chinese security services market in the first half of 2024 is approximately 8.45 billion yuan (about 1.17 billion USD), an increase of 0.6% year-on-year.
Based on research and analysis of data and the market, IDC believes that the Chinese security services market will mainly perform as follows in the first half of 2024:
The market size of security consulting services ranks first, with a total scale of approximately 3.6 billion yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%. Data security-related consulting services are currently a hot topic.
Safety education and training is a sub-market that grew rapidly in the first half of the year, with a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. Among them, the growth of enterprise-level training is mainly driven by the demand for safety training grounds.
The managed security services market saw a year-on-year growth rate of 1.5% in the first half of the year, a significant decline compared to the 19.9% growth rate in 2023.
The cybersecurity services market defined by IDC consists of four sub-markets: security consulting services, security education and training, managed security services, and security integration services.
Security Consulting Services
It falls under the category of professional services, specifically including various consulting services categories such as security strategy and planning, governance, risk and compliance, architecture assessment, threat assessment and simulation testing services, and emergency response services.

Analyst Views
IDC's senior analyst Zhang Xueqing stated that in an overall tightening budget environment, users are more cautious about investing in on-site managed security services. However, remote management with a better cost-performance ratio, stronger real-time capabilities, and the "cloud-edge integration" model are being accepted and recognized by more users. Currently, the remote management service model is still in the development stage, with room for improvement in cloudification and scalability, and the specific scenario demands have not yet been fully met, which is insufficient to drive overall market scale growth. On the other hand, the application of generative AI in security services is gradually deepening, with more efficient threat detection, automated response and handling, intelligent analysis, and early warning capabilities being key points for vendors to enhance security operation efficiency, reduce costs, and stand out in competition. IDC will continue to monitor the Chinese security services market to uncover more market hotspots and changing trends.
